How To: Find good Camtasia recording settings for YouTube

Find good Camtasia recording settings for YouTube

Photoshop Mama is here to make all your software tutorials you want to post on YouTube so much better! She shares info on the products and where to get them and also covers how shes produce vids and specifically her post production procedure for saving vids for upload to YouTube.

I get so many inquiries on this, I thought it's time to just try and record what I do.
The file size of this video is 33.4MB for 13.4 minutes.

TIPS: I don't recommend recording the entire screen or a program in Full Screen mode. I had to do this for this video but normally I only set the area of the Application. The smaller the area you record the sharper the quality will be. Videos recorded using the entire screen end up looking pretty fuzzy and soft (like this one!).

While my video is demonstrating my specifice settings for upload to YouTube, I strongly recommend you watch the vids provided by Techsmith for Getting Started with their product here:

Products I use are:

Camtasia Studio 5.2 by Techsmith

SnagIt by Techsmith for screen captures

Do not use any Camtasia Studio version 3 or 4, as the sound will screw up due to Adobe's faulty FlashPlayer 9.0.115 release. (Dec 3, 2007), which they have not removed or fixed!(As of March 8, 2008!)
